The 130 is really great! I'm having a little adjustment getting used to the right hand rotation and the extra torque of the new engine.
As for the fuel burn on the return from Florida, when I flew at the same air speed the fuel burn was a little lower than with the 110 Viking. I'm changing the coolant reservoir to a larger one as I have a little overflow with the one I used with the 110 engine. Not a surprise as the cooling system is larger than what I had in the 110.
Hello Tom hows the 130 doing what was your fuel burn coming back from fl
Hi Tom I am grounded too but have not flown the avid with the 110 in but it sure is a smooth running engine. Drop me a line if like firstname.lastname@example.org would love to meet up some day and check your plane out Jon has a winner with the Viking engines I see a lot of people new to flying love the engines.
I just rigged my rudder cables and nose wheel steering rods - I have the Viking spring mod. If rudder cable tension is set with weight on the gear, tension will increase slightly with the nose raised off the ground due to the geometry of the sloping firewall. It's like moving down the hypotenuse of a triangle.
Installing the Viking Nose spring doesn't change the cable tension recommendation from Zenith.
Tom, I just purchased a 701 with the spring nose gear and it is really stiff. How much tension did you use on the rudder cables?
