"Thanks. How about the Turbo 195 - does it lean with altitude like the 130?
Bill"

"Only if you would like to do so. The engine will start and warm up on its own."
"Thanks! I have another newbie question. Since the Viking engine is built to automotive tolerances regarding piston to cylinder clearance - is preheating required in cold weather?"
"Hi Bob. Yes you are right. The manual says maximum of 15% but all auto gas here in Brazil has 25% or 27% ethanol. Since I am monitoring closely and I had no issues with 90 hours of flight and it is a very clean fuel, the only concern would be the…"
"thanks jose. isn't 25% a little high for this engine?"
"Hi Bob. My 110 engine has 90hs. I use auto gasoline here in Brazil with 25% ethanol. It has 95 octane. I used 100 LL only once just to test. Saw no noticable difference."
"Yes, it does that and there is no altitude limit for this"
"Has been done on similar aircraft like tyhe Hawk and Rans S-12"
"The easiest way is to call Viking:)
We tried calling you but busy. I think you have a land line.
In any case, here is a video as well.
Viking phone is 386-566-2616"

"thanks norm, i will probably start with 18."
"Bob, on my CH-750 I have it set at 19 degrees which gives me about 5200 on takeoff and climb. I previously had it at 18 and as I recall it was around 5400."
"I can't match the performance of a Super Cub on Steroids but as I've gotten older, landing on a 500ft. gravel bar isn't that appealing. I removed the slats at 30 hrs and like the airspeed indicating 7-8 mph faster. Maybe John will chime in later.…"

Just wanted to thank everyone at Viking. I began my first aircraft build two years and four months ago by ordering a Viking 130 engine and a ICP Savannah S aircraft kit. Yesterday I got the airworthiness certificate. Let me just say that the engine installation part of the process was straight forward and easily done with all the support I received from Viking. I’ve only got 6.4 hours on the aircraft so far but I can already say my engine choice was a good one. That thing starts every time with just a touch on the starter, has no vibration and sounds awesome. If you are in the market for an engine you cannot go wrong with Viking. Contact me any time and I will be happy to share my experience with you. Thanks again Jan, Alissa and everyone else at Viking. “When” I build my next aircraft I will be calling you for the engine.
Ron,
I believe this is the latest iteration of Jans wiring schematic. It shows a 20 amp fuse to the ECU.
Hi, Jan
The ECU electrical schematic I have only shows a switched power feed. Is there not a fuse required in the power feed and if so what amperage.
Regards
Ron Simonsen
We offer a Water jetted plate that would adapt the engine to an engine stand. Such a one from Harbor Freight. I suggest one with 4 wheels to keep it from tipping.
Hi Jan,
As you know, I just received my 130 engine and she is a beauty. I also purchased the custom FWF kit to go with it and everything was packaged professionally and securely. Even the delivery guy commented on how well packaged the engine came.
Anyway, Since I don’t have a complete fuselage to mount to yet, do you know where I can get a video on how best to hoist and mount to a 2000 lb stand? And how best to store the engine for about 6 months?
Thanks!
Scott
Jan:
I had to trim the plastic rim of honda oil pressure sensor to get it off since it was jammed into the engine mount.
I was told in the Honda fit manual, i got hold of that the oil channel was that weird 1/8 28 S BSPT thread.
In this month's issue of kitplanes the article by Tom Wilson has an interesting discussion on direct vs geared engines.
One of the sidebars shows Darryl Greenamyer's race 33 engine and an admonishment "just don't do it" referring to re-drives.
That article goes on to state in another side bar that only one major manufacturer has successfully developed an engine with a re-drive.
Hmmmmm??
I'm thinking Mr Wilson is going to get called on some of his Comments?

Now, let's take that thought further.
What if more people really understood what we are doing
What if the aviation press really worked to promote aviation
What if they told you straight that a dual carbureted push rod -Air coled Engine is not news.
What if they told you aviation can't survive with small engines costing the same as an SUV
What if everyone wanted a Honda engine in their airplane, to streamline everything further.
What if, it's a car engine and therefore can't work, syndrome dissapeared and everyone had a can do attitude, based on the 6 year history of the V-110
If we all went Honda, we would all have a great engine. Nobody would get rich.
If we all went Honda we would have the power to support and fix anything.
If airplanes were designed for a real engine, with he power and weight to sustain long life.
Just Aircraft is making a longer airplane to leave the Rotax trap.
If builders would realize that 10lb in the tail and +30 hp is worth it for relability, performance and cost savings of a Honda GDI engine.
If Kitplanes would realize they are a Kit Plane magazine and get a real engine reporter.
If Kitplane magazine would report on the success of Viking, and leave the VW Times.
If all Zenith builders got together and said:
The Viking 130 is working
The engine wins all STOL competitions
The engine cost less
It has more technology than all others combined
It is basically a straight Honda engine
We should all go this way, support the company and expand the usage
They have all the firewall forward stuff
They have service centers throughout the US
They have thousands of spare parts in stock
There staff are all pilots, home builders and mechanics
All Viking staff love aviation and will be there for you
Viking has, by far the best engine warranty in the business.
A staff from Viking will answer a call when you are having problems on a Sunday flight
Honda parts are available all over the world.
Viking has a thousand gearbox parts on the shelf.
GDI is by far enough of a reason to go Viking. Nobody else can offer it.
Come to the Zenith in June. Ask for a ride in the Viking 130 Senith CruZer
Then ask for a ride in a UL and Rotax powered one.
Be sure to document carefully and report back here.
The Viking 130 will be your favorite.
Daniel
Yes, that is correct. Take a look at the install video in the Highlander from the top of this forum on the home page. It has some info about this
