Hi all,
I'm very curious about the Viking engines for the RANS S-21. Anyone else building a S-21 considering a Viking? 130 vs Turbo? I've seen the S-20 with the 141 wing on Youtube and it seems you get good performance with the 130. I'm also considering the Titan IO-340, but cost and complexity of installation with the Titan causes me to look seriously at Viking. The Viking installation look very clean and simple.
My mission will be fun flying STOL type ops off-field, local airport flights at sea level, and sometimes to airports at 4000-5000 ft elevation. I will travel long distances a few times a year for things like Oshkosh.
Max gross weight of the S-21 is 1800lbs, but I imagine I'll fly mostly at less weight. I imagine empty weight will be 930-950 if I choose the Viking 130. What performance can I expect with a Viking 130?
I'm not opposed to the turbo, but concerned about weight on the nose and turbo reliability.
Thanks,
Branden

Performance is close to the Titan engine, even with the 130. Adding our latest development of a variable DUC propeller makes it a perfect combination
